BreachForums Strikes Again: Original Leak Surfaces with Over 294K Emails

BreachForum data leak featured

It seems the ghost of BreachForums refuses to rest. A recent post by a user named "Combolist" has surfaced on a new hacking forum, claiming to have leaked a significantly larger dump of the infamous BreachForums database. While data from the notorious hacking site has already circulated in the past, this latest release reportedly contains over 294,567 unique email addresses, an increase compared to earlier known leak.

The Origins of the BreachForums Leak

BreachForums, which rose to prominence as the successor to RaidForums, was taken down in 2023 after law enforcement seized the site and arrested its alleged operator. However, before its demise, the site served as a hub for cybercriminals to buy and sell stolen databases, leaked credentials, and hacking tools.

This newly shared data stems from the original MyBB backup of BreachForums, dated November 29, 2022, and allegedly compiled by the forum’s previous administrator, the now-arrested Pompompurin. According to Combolist, the breach includes usernames, IP addresses, hashed passwords (argon2), private messages, and other sensitive user information. If verified, this expanded dataset could pose further risks to former members of the illicit forum.

A Deeper Look at the Shared Data

The sample dataset posted in the forum includes MyBB user table inserts, exposing:

  • Usernames & Emails
  • Argon2 hashed passwords
  • Account registration details
  • Last login timestamps
  • Private messaging metadata
  • User group information

Although previous leaks included similar details, this dataset might contain previously unreleased records, further expanding the attack surface for cybercriminals looking to exploit former BreachForums users.

This leak reaffirms the notion that no platform—legal or illicit—is immune to data breaches. The downfall of BreachForums was a significant victory for law enforcement, but the continued circulation of its database shows that even after takedowns, digital footprints remain exploitable.

Whether this latest leak is the final nail in the coffin for BreachForums or just another chapter in its legacy remains to be seen. One thing is certain: in the world of cybercrime, no one is safe—not even the hackers themselves.
